An International Monetary Fund (IMF) technical mission was expected in Lisbon Monday for two days of “preliminary” work to set up the organization’s supervision of its bailout program for Portugal.

A “full mission for public finance management” will head to Lisbon during the summer, an IMF official told Lusa.

Lisbon received a first €6.1 bn tranche from the IMF package totalling €26bn last week.

Brussels was expected to deliver its first loan, €1.75bn, on Tuesday with another €4.75bn expected Wednesday.

The European Commission said these first two tranches of EU aid to Portugal would leave Lisbon in a near-term “situation of comfortable liquidity”.

The three-year financial rescue package negotiated with Brussels and the IMF foresees loans totaling €78bn, with the IMF picking up one-third of the amount.
