Triple jumper Patricia Mamona and shot putter Marco Fortes are now out of the competition.
Two of the Portuguese delegation’s most prominent athletes, Patrícia Mamona and Marco Fortes, have been eliminated from the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Patrícia Mamona was eliminated during the women’s triple jump qualification stage and finished in 6th position after a direct qualification of 14.11m, news agency Lusa reports. Mamona was the triple jump runner-up in the 2012 European Athletics Championship in Helsinki.
Meanwhile, Marco Fortes ended up in 9th position in the men’s shot put with 20.06m, short from the 20.65m mark that would have given him a ticket to the final.
