Civil service: severance pay deal reached
Talks on relocation of civil servants surplus to requirements are still ongoing, with differences between the government and the state sector unions.
The Portuguese government and state sector unions have reached a deal on mutually-agreed severance pay worth 100 times the country’s minimum wage equivalent to some €48,500 union coordinator Jorge Nobre dos Santos said Tuesday.
Previously, the government had tried to establish a ceiling of 20 days pay for every year’s employment up to a maximum of 12 times the worker’s salary.
Other talks on relocation of civil servants surplus to requirements are still ongoing, with differences of opinion as to how far workers should be required to travel to a new job.
