The Portuguese magician Luís de Matos became one of three winners of the Golden Grolla award, the performer told Lusa at the weekend.

The award was announced in Saint-Vincent, Italy on Friday with de Matos winning alongside peers Lu Chen and Dynamo, from China and the United Kingdom, respectively.

The awards distinguish professional fields ranging from cinema and television to journalism, music and magic with de Matos winning his as he celebrates the 25th year of his career.

The Masters of Magic international organisation is responsible for deciding on the winners with past awards going to Uri Geller, David Blaine and Juan Tamariz, among others.

This announcement comes in the wake of the Portuguese magician picking up another award from the Academy of Magical Arts, in Hollywood, the United States.
