EDP Renováveis: Profits shoot up in first semester
Higher installed capacity and electricity output help the renewable-energy company double its profit
EDP Renováveis said this Wednesday its net profit rose in the first six months of the year to more than double the level in the same period last year, as the company registered higher levels in installed capacity and power output.
The Portuguese renewable-energy company was also bolstered by a non-recurrent capital gain of €6.6m from the sale of a 16.67% stake in a Spanish wind farm in Andalusia, in April.
EDPR’s net profit increased from €42.9m to €89.5m, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, or Ebitda, climbed to €409.2m from €342.9m a year earlier.
The company’s operational performance was positive and helped the bottom line climb. Installed capacity improved by 1,370 megawatts to 7,163 MW and electricity output grew 27% to 8,790 gigawatts-hour.
