Rui Costa said Tuesday was a “perfect day” after winning stage 16 of the 100th edition of the Tour de France bicycle race.

Portuguese cyclist Rui Costa said Tuesday) was a “perfect day” after winning stage 16 of the 100th edition of the Tour de France bicycle race.

Costa (26) said this was “one of the greatest victories of my career, one of the happiest days. Winning the Tour here is very important. I had hoped to win once again for some time. Two victories here make me very happy”, after having won a stage in the 2011 edition of the Tour.

Costs finished the 16º stage between Vaison-la-Romaine and gap isolated from the rest of the riders after a successful escape from the rest of the platoon.
