A Dama Pé-de-Cabra

The Casa das Histórias Paula Rego, which houses a permanent collection of London-based Portuguese artist Dame Paula Rego, presents an exhibition where she and painter Adriana Molder focused on visually interpreting the Portuguese folk tale A Dama Pé-de-Cabra (The Goat-footed Lady).

21 Moments in Timor-Leste

Lisbon’s Museu do Oriente presents an exhibition of 21 photographs by Luís Ramos Pinto taken in East Timor between 2006 and 2008, which reveal how the people deal with the hardships of living in one of the poorest nations on earth.

Projeto Preto Véio

Lisbon’s Musicbox will be receiving Dom Billy, leader of Brazilian musical project Preto Véio, who “blends Brazilian regional rhythms with hip-hop culture”.

Black Balloon

Another Black Balloon night at Lisbon’s benchmark club Lux with a DJ set by Paulo Furtado, known from his alternative blues one-man project The Legendary Tigerman, and UK disco operators Horse Meat Disco.

Festa do Avante! 2012

The Portuguese Communist Party’s annual cultural festival, Festa do Avante! (in Portuguese), has become known over the years for its excellent concerts with Portuguese and international musicians. This year’s bill includes a huge variety of performances in several stages. On this second day you can expect to see acts such as Wraygunn, Jorge Palma and friends, The Whiskey Dogs, Terrakota, Blasted Mechanism among many other contemporary and traditional musicians from around the world.

Festa do Avante! 2012

Highlights of the last day of this year’s Festa do Avante! include performances by fado singers Hélder Moutinho and Ana Moura, while rock band Linda Martini and folk music band Gaiteiros de Lisboa and guests will be also present, among many others. The festival also includes exhibitions, a book fair, theatre and film screenings among a variety of other cultural events.
